25-01-2012 The Amazing Grace Experience

The directors and management of Transpakhip are delighted to inform you of an exciting development in St Kitts which we are sponsoring during 2012.

In March this year The Amazing Grace Experience will open in Sandy Point (Just off Pump Bay). This location will create a major attraction for locals and also the many visitors to St. Kitts.

Surprisingly, lots of people (even locals) are not aware that the John Newton the writer of Amazing Grace, (one of the most popular hymns in the world), experienced a life changing turning point whilst in St Kitts during 1754. This consequently resulted in him turning away from the International Slave Trade and focusing on fighting for the cause for abolishment of slavery.

We last year commissioned the exhibit with The John Newton Project and this will go on display at the attraction in Sandy Point.

Before it does we invite you to come see it for yourself today at the Salvation Army International Headquarters, 101 Queen Victoria Street, London EC4V 4EH anytime until 4pm. We seek not to place John Newton on a pedestal but rather feel it important promote a small piece of history that is unique to St Kitts.

06-12-2011 More Client Feedback

We are always happy to receive your feedback regarding our services from barrels to full house moves throughout Jamaica and the West Indies. Here are some lovely words that came through Liz's email recently:

"Liz and her company was recommended by three of my friends who had previously used her. Even though she came highly recommended I was still sceptic and anxious because of some of the bad stigma attached to shipping companies. Albeit Transpakship are in a league of their own. They are a unique and elite service. This is because of the personal service that you get. They manage to make you feel like you are their only client.

We had goods in storage, many items at our UK home, new furniture that was to be delivered from different stores to both storage and then to Liz's storage. TranspakShip managed to arrange all the above and made sure they all arrived together and was stored safety.

I am a worrier and I was concerned that my delicate glassware, crystals, china other precious particulars would get damaged. Liz reassured me over and over that throughout my packaging to when my goods arrived in my home in Jamaica that they would be safe. And they were.

Liz and her entire staff were so professional and helpful throughout. They relieved every bit of that stressful process; from the careful home packing at my home right to the safe arrival in my new home.

When her staff come to your home to pack. You can actually relax as they will do everything. They were friendly and very careful, they provided endless protective packaging material. They handled all the items in my home with care, this was very comforting to me.

I particularly liked how the itinerary was done. They itemised and labelled every item in each box. This was especially useful when you come to unpack!

I was delighted with how passionate, efficient and knowledgeable Liz was about what she did and Jamaica. This reassured me further that I would receive as good a service at the other end. Which I did.

Liz made herself available to take all my calls and answer all my questions whenever and whatever day of the week.

Moving is a very stressful period and using Transpakship eliminates a lot of that burden.

I wishLiz and her fabulous team all the continual success for many more years".

21-09-2011 JAMAICAN RESIDENTS' CUSTOMS ALLOWANCES

When you arrange to ship to Jamaica with Transpakship we will send you an informative guide passing on our experience and talking you through the procedure. Within this guide to shipping is information to help you determine your eligibility and claim your allowance towards customs duty when your goods arrive in Jamaica.

Recently we have received a number of enquiries about eligibility for non-Jamaicans sending and receiving shipments to Kingston or Montego Bay, and would like pass on the information we have received from our agents in Jamiaca.

Please be aware however that the customs duty does remain at the discretion of the customs officials at the ports in Jamaica, and this information is only correct at the time of going to print. Transpakship can not guarantee the customs duty allowance for any individual, and cannot take responsibility for any decisions made at the port.

Last Christmas the customs officials were insisting that passengers receiving the customs duty allowance were Jamaica residents, however our recent experience is that visitors are also currently being given the relevant yellow forms to claim this allowance (C/27). Our advice would be for anyone shipping and recieving items to Jamaica, to make a declaration in each circumstance where they have unaccompanied cargo. As previously stated each decision is made at the discretion of the customs officials in Jamaica, however, so this customs duty allowance may not always be awarded.

12-09-2011 - YOUR FEEDBACK

We recently received this email from one of our many satisfied customers,

"In July I needed to ship my household belongings from central London to my place in Nevis. Not having done this before and being somewhat leery about entrusting my goods to a shipping company picked from the "Yellow Pages" I was at a loss what to do. I visited the St Kitts & Nevis High Commission in Kensington W8 and while therepicked up a copy of your brochure. I contacted your office on by telephone and the person dealing with me was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and patient with a neophyte shipping this route.

I arranged for some drums to be delivered to delivered to my flat - which unfortunately for your delivery man "John", was located on the 2nd floor (no lift) and they were delivered as arranged. After packing them, I arranged for a pick-up a few days later. Once again the same delivery man came as arranged and somehow managed to negotiate the London traffic and even park in a notoriously difficult area. While some might have grumbled about moving heavy drums down multiple and narrow stairs, he was enthusiastic and positive. Basically, it was hard but he just got on and did what had to be done. I returned to Nevis the day after his pickup.

In less than a month I was pleasantly surprised to be contacted by your representative in Nevis advising that the goods had arrived. I met with him and gave him a list of the contents of the four containers. After the intervening weekend he let me know that he had completed his work with Nevis Customs. The customs duties were reasonable as was his handling charge. The goods were picked up the same day.

The drums were intact and secure. Nothing had been broken.

While some people may have had problems shipping, I thought I'd let you know that your staff and associates were first-rate. Your system worked flawlessly from door-to-door. Thanks for making what can be a frustrating experience painless. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in either using your firm again or in recommending your firm to others. Well done ! "

We are always grateful to hear your stories, and welcome any comments to enquiries@transpakship.co.uk

08-03-11 - THE JOHN NEWTON PROJECT

Along with the Baptist lighthouse church at Crab Hill, Sandy Point are about to open a tourist centre that will tell you the story of the slave trader, John Newton. He had a life changing experience at Sandy Point, in which he gave up the slave trade to become an Anglican vicar at the village of Onley, Buckinghamshire.

From the depth of his experiences in Africa and St Kitts, he went on to write a number of well known hymn's, among them one of the most known of all time.

AMAZING GRACE

We hope to have a plaque, that tells the story, erected and the tourist centre open by the end of May, with a view to inviting the tourist trade (cruise ships, hotel visitors etc) approximately 3 months later.

This container has now sailed and is due to arrive later this month (27/5/10) where the L'Athletique D'Haiti will receive and distribute the goods to the needy.

25-3-10 - RAMS BACK HAITI APPEAL

Club sends 2,000 items to help disaster victims

Derby County has thrown their weight behind local efforts to help victims of the Haiti Earthquake disaster, by donating items from the Club shop to the appeal.

Over 2,000 garments will be sent to the South American country, with the help of the ‘Haiti Pound Appeal', of Open Doors Forum (ODF) who will organised for the items to be shipped over next month.

The items from shopDCFCwould normally be included in the end of season sale, however, the Board has chosen to make the charitable donation, with manager Nigel Clough and a number of first team players on hand to hand over the merchandise.

The Haiti Pound Appeal is urging people to donate £1 to raise funds and volunteers for the charity Open Doors Forum based at ANFC, Walbrook Road, Derby DE23 8RY, along with the Derby West Indian Community Center will be holding a charity collection when DCFC play Birmingham City on 13th February.

Rams Vice President Operation is John Vicars:

"Normally these items are on sale in our Club shop, shopDCFC, at the end of the season at a reduced rate, however, under the circumstances we feel they can be better used in Haiti.

"The disaster in Haiti and the subsequent human suffering has touched people all over the World and with the local community in Derbyshire making various efforts to help, we thought it was important to play a role and do what we can.

"Hopefully our actions will encourage other organisations to support the aid effort."
